Vizard AI review: what it does, what it costs, and its limits
Checked October 2026 Prices and plans read on vizard.ai; vendors change them without notice.
Vizard AI is the browser-based video clipper at vizard.ai. It transcribes a long video, proposes the moments worth posting, reframes them to vertical and hands you a timeline to fix captions and cut points before you export.
Free plan: 60 credits a month (one per uploaded minute), 720p exports up to 10 minutes, watermarked, kept 3 days. Paid: Creator at $29/month, or $14.50/month billed yearly, from 600 credits.
Verdict: a good editor with fair yearly pricing, for people who want to touch every clip. If you want clips without the timeline, or to self-host, look at an unattended clipper.
Paste the link you tried in Vizard and compare the clips. First video free up to 60 minutes, no credit card.
What is Vizard AI?
Vizard (written Vizard AI in most searches, and served from vizard.ai) is a browser-based AI clip maker: it transcribes the video, finds candidate moments and hands you a timeline to fix them in. That transcription pass is also its video-to-text feature, so a transcript comes out of the same job as the clips. Lately it has added an AI agent and an AI Studio for generated video around the clipper.
The features it leads with: AI clips, auto reframe, animated subtitles with emoji and keyword highlighting, subtitle translation, AI B-roll, post suggestions, and publishing or scheduling to connected social accounts.
How Vizard AI works
- Upload a file or paste a link; paid plans take sources of up to 600 minutes and 30 GB.
- Vizard transcribes the video, which is also its video-to-text output.
- The AI proposes candidate clips and reframes them to vertical.
- You review them in a browser timeline: captions, emoji and keyword highlights, cut points.
- Export, or publish and schedule to connected social accounts.
The step that defines the product is the fourth one. Vizard puts a person in the timeline by design, which is the reason to pick it and the reason not to.
Vizard AI pricing in 2026
| Plan | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Free | 60 credits a month (1 credit = 1 minute uploaded), uploads up to 60 minutes, 720p exports up to 10 minutes with a watermark, 3-day storage, transcript as TXT only |
| Creator | $29/month, or $14.50/month billed yearly: from 600 credits a month, 4K exports of any length, no watermark, scheduling, TXT and SRT transcripts, API |
| Business | $39/month, or $19.50/month billed yearly: shared workspace, 20 social accounts, team seats at $5/month each, brand kit |
One credit is one minute of video uploaded, whatever comes out of it. The yearly toggle halves the price, so the $29 Creator plan is $14.50/month on a yearly commitment, and on yearly billing it is one of the cheapest per-minute plans in the category up to its 600 credits.
Is Vizard AI free?
There is a free plan, and it is for trying the tool rather than publishing with it: 60 minutes of source a month is one podcast episode, exports stop at 720p and 10 minutes, every export carries the watermark, and files are kept for 3 days. The transcript downloads as TXT only; SRT subtitles need a paid plan. If the transcript is what you came for, the Vizard AI video to text comparison covers that case on its own.
Pros and cons
What it does well
- Genuinely usable in-browser editor after the AI pass
- Strong multi-language subtitles and subtitle translation, with transcripts it says cover 180+ languages
- Generous paid allowance: 600 credits a month on the entry plan, with the API included
Where it falls short
- A tight free plan: 60 minutes of source a month, 720p, exports capped at 10 minutes, a watermark on every export and 3-day storage.
- Billed per uploaded minute: a 60-minute recording costs 60 credits whatever it yields.
- The timeline is the workflow. If you do not want to hand-edit, it is overhead.
- Closed source and cloud only: the video has to be uploaded to Vizard.
Who Vizard AI is for
- Editors who want an AI first pass and then full control of every clip
- Teams that need subtitles and transcripts translated into many languages
- Anyone clipping a few hundred minutes a month who can commit to yearly billing
Who should look elsewhere
- People who want clips without opening an editor
- Pipelines that must run unattended on a schedule
- Anyone whose footage cannot leave their own machine
The verdict
Vizard AI is a solid clipper with a genuinely good editor, priced well on yearly billing. Its free plan is for trying it, not for publishing, and its value depends on you wanting to edit. If you would rather the clips come out finished, or need to self-host, an unattended clipper fits better.
If that describes you, the open source Vizard AI alternative page covers the switch: a feature-by-feature table, a cost calculator, when to stay and how to move. In short, OpenShorts runs the clipping unattended and can be self-hosted under MIT.
If you are weighing it against OpenShorts: the open source edition is free when you run it yourself (MIT, Docker, your own keys, no watermark, no cap), and OpenShorts Cloud hosts it with the first video clipped whole up to 60 minutes, then 20 minutes a month with a watermark and no credit card, then from $12/month for 100 minutes.
Common questions
- Is Vizard AI free?
- Partly. The free plan gives 60 credits a month (one credit is one minute of uploaded video), uploads up to 60 minutes, and 720p exports of up to 10 minutes with a watermark, kept for 3 days. Paid plans start at $29/month, or $14.50/month billed yearly. OpenShorts self-hosted is free with no watermark and no cap; OpenShorts Cloud clips your first video free up to 60 minutes, then 20 minutes a month.
- What are Vizard AI's main limitations?
- On the free plan: 60 credits a month, 720p exports capped at 10 minutes, a watermark and 3-day storage, with transcripts as TXT only. On every plan: billing per uploaded minute, a workflow built around editing each clip in a timeline, and no self-hosting. Checked October 2026.
- What are the best Vizard AI alternatives?
- It depends on why you are leaving. For an open source tool you can self-host, OpenShorts (MIT, free with no watermark or cap when self-hosted, hosted from $12/month). For caption design, Submagic. For the fastest link-to-clips path, Klap. For per-minute credits with a bigger caption library, Opus Clip.
- What is Vizard AI used for?
- Turning long recordings into short vertical clips, with an emphasis on editing them afterwards: it finds the moments, transcribes them and gives you a timeline for the captions and the clip boundaries. It is also used as a video-to-text tool, because the transcript comes out of the same job.
- How much does Vizard AI cost?
- Creator is $29/month, or $14.50/month billed yearly, from 600 credits a month with 4K exports and no watermark. Business is $39/month, or $19.50/month billed yearly, with a shared workspace and team seats at $5/month each. One credit is one minute of uploaded video. Checked October 2026.
- Does Vizard AI have an API?
- Yes. The API is included in every paid plan and draws from the same credits as the web app, with videos up to 600 minutes and 10 GB. Above 10,000 minutes a month it is a sales conversation.
